Stefan & Ilse

Ilse and Stefan came to us a few months before their special day. It started with a very enthusiastic (a word that quickly became synonymous with this couple!) phone call and then with a delicious coffee with even better conversation. Having already chosen a venue, we got cracking on the rest of the planning around their daytime wedding.

Ilse was based in Johannesburg during the build-up to the wedding and our meetings with Stefan, who was based in Cape Town, usually included a Skype call to bring Ilse into all the excitement! Meticulous planners themselves, this couple were a delight to work with as all boxes were ticked as soon as they were created! Ilse and Stefan worked together seamlessly from the word go and their attachment to each other throughout the process was a delight to see.

Ilse was in love with the stationery element and Lara, of Lara Friday Designs, came to the party, as she always does, and completely out did herself by creating a custom suite that reflected the couple perfectly. Jeanne and Dané from OKASIE took things to the next level and after a site visit at the beautiful Clos Malverne we had a beautiful plan ready to set in motion.

With the birds chirping on a fresh August morning, we set out on what was to be an incredible wedding day for this beautiful couple. The ceremony took place at the historic NG Moedergemeente Kerk in Stellenbosch, which was adorned with enchanting floral designs from OKASIE. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the bride made her way down the aisle, accompanied by her mother.

Thereafter, amid a flurry of petals, the newlyweds emerged to a cheering crowd of their closest friends from across the world. Arriving in style at Clos Malverne in their 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 3,  Ilse and Stefan took some time to enjoy pre-drinks and mingle with their guests while SHOUT MC Jazz Quartet played wonderful music in the garden.

As they stepped in to the transformed Clos Malverne Restaurant, the couple and their guests were breath taken! Long, elegant tables draped in heavy navy linen were topped with exquisite flowers and candles, paired with custom stationery and gifts. Clos Malverne then begun the service of the six-course lunch,  paired with their estate wines. After the enchanting speeches, guests enjoyed and abundant cheese course, paired with a special selection of the groom’s favourite whiskies and brandies. As the day came to a close, guests departed almost reluctantly after a beautiful day spent celebrating an unforgettable wedding with special friends and family.
