Cape Point Vineyards
Mike & Maria
We met Mike and Maria on Skype and our e-relationship was off to an epic start from the get go! Living in London meant that we had numerous Skype sessions with the Couple but not enough ‘in-the-flesh’ chats – so when they came home for a visit, we made up for lost time.
After days of site visits, lunches and supplier meetings we eventually parted again with a very clear vision for their Wedding celebration and couldn’t wait to have it all unfold for their special Guests.
Starting with a Welcome Dinner at the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden the day prior to the Wedding, Guests were in for an absolute treat. With new friendships developed over a glass of wine the day before, Guests arrived at St Dominic’s Catholic Church in Wynberg, in unison, talking exuberantly and very excited for the big day.
Inside the Church we were welcomed by the beautiful voices of the Hout Bay Ingoma Choir. Mike, who had a smile from ear to ear, stood ready for his beautiful Bride to arrive. Maria, a natural beauty arrived glowing, flanked by her Father and Godfather before she made her way down the aisle. After saying their beautiful nuptials, the Newly Weds exited the church in a shower of soft confetti and happy cheers! The convoy then began as the Couple lead their guests to the reception venue at Cape Point Vineyards.
While onsite at the beautiful Ceremony, we were also putting the final touches to the Reception area and had transformed it. The incredible Team from OKASIE worked magic and turned the venue into an enchanted garden. An abundance of Granadilla vines and masses of greenery hung gracefully above tables lined with lush arrangements and custom soft candles.
Guests were greeted by wonderful music from Ross and his team from amaAmbush Marimbas setting the warm, African tone for pre-dinner drinks on the lawn area. The Slippery Spoon team pulled out all the stops by beginning with their signature Feeding Wall as well as an incredible Oyster and Ceviché Bar with various other canapés roaming the grass for guests to indulge in.
With the sun setting over the Noordhoek valley and Atlantic Ocean, guests caught the final moments of the sunset before making their way inside where the evening kicked off with heartfelt speeches from family and special friends. In between these, a perfectly planned 3-course Menu put together by Johnny, Marius and the Slippery Spoon Team, was served and enjoyed by all. To end it all off, an impressive 6-meter long Pavlova was built in front of the guests for Mike and Maria to cut and enjoy.
The real fun however, begun once our good friend and international DJ, DJ Didier from LA French Connection, got to open the dance floor alongside a live saxophonist and djembe drummer. Guests remained on the dance floor well into the early hours taking it all in…!
